Old home movies and vintage films offer us beautiful reminders of a time when things were simpler and glimpses of how things were once very different – or perhaps how some things have remained the same. Led by the East Devon National Landscape, the ‘Back to the Future’ project created an online, local film archive, converting old film to digital.

OVERVIEW

This cultural heritage project helped preserve old cine film footage of vintage East Devon life, by converting films and images from various sources to digital format, making them widely available for anyone to view and admire.

Information and film contributing to the project was received from individuals and organisations throughout the East Devon National Landscape and helped to build a library of images from the past.

Daily farming life, seaside promenades, village fetes, orchard harvests and point-to-point races are just some of the gems collected – our earliest film comes from Exmouth in the 1930s.
