Some of the submenu items in the header (‘Our Work’ & ‘Explore’), the ‘Accept’ & ‘Reject’ buttons in the cookies & the ‘Cookie settling’ link cannot be accessed via keyboard.

Requirement: All users should be able to use a keyboard to access all content and functionality

When hovering over the dropdown menus in the header, there is no mechanisms to dismiss the additional content triggered without moving pointer hover or keyboard focus

Requirement: there should be a way of dismissing the additional content, the point must be able to be moved over the content without disappearing and the content must remain visible until the hover or focus is removed, the user dismisses it or the information is no longer valid.

Various elements on the page do not have sufficient colour contract, e.g. ‘Nature’ – the white text on blue background is not sufficient

Requirement: Elements must have sufficient colour contrast

The following links: ‘East Devon National Landscape’ logo in the header, the search button, the ‘empty link’ below the image of people near a large tree do not have accessible text

Requirement: Links must have discernible text accessible by a screen reader.

When navigating the page with a keyboard at 200% zoom, focus is hidden on elements such as ‘Privacy Policy & Data Protection’ in the footer and by the Cookies Policy pop up at 400% zoom.

Requirement: a focused element must not be hidden by other content on the screen, so users who navigate via a keyboard can locate where they are on a page.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was first prepared on 15th December 2025 and subsequently updated on 6th January 2026.

Our website is currently being upgraded. During this upgrade all the above issues will be fixed – this will ensure our new website is ‘fully-compliant’ with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. The new website is planned for release by March 2026. Upon completion, this statement will be updated to reflect the changes.

The method used to prepare the statement was an assessment carried out by a public sector body.
