Spring in the East Devon National Landscape is a time for beginnings. As nature wakes up for the year ahead, it’s the perfect time to head outside to make the most of brighter days and find new adventures.
As spring blossoms, the vibrant green of new growth is everywhere to see while birdsong fills the air and wildflowers splash colour through the landscape. Soft sunlight warms the red sandstone cliffs of the Jurassic Coast as the sea sparkles. New lambs play in the fields and migratory birds return to Seaton Wetlands and the Otter Estuary.
This is the season for unhurried walks along coastal paths and meandering woodland tracks, finishing the day with muddy boots and a well-earned stop at a centuries-old thatched pub.
Whether you’re a photographer capturing blossom and blue skies, a hiker looking for peaceful paths and far-reaching views, or a family eager to explore the outdoors, spring in East Devon is a breath of fresh air waiting to be savoured.
Perched on the western end of the Jurassic Coast, Beer offers dramatic chalk cliffs and sweeping sea views. Below the headland, the beach sits in sheltered cove and is just a short stroll from the village, making it an easy, welcoming base for coastal walks and relaxed days around the beach.
