Management Plan

East Devon National Landscape is one of 46 protected landscapes in the UK. To help keep it ‘outstanding’ now and for generations to come, it is a legal requirement to produce a Management Plan. It highlights what’s special about the East Devon landscape, the challenges it faces and prioritise for upcoming work.

State of Nature Report

Updated in 2025, our State of Nature report provides clear, data driven picture of East Devon’s landscape and environment.

This comprehensive document provides a timely snapshot of East Devon’s landscape, bringing together key data on land use, biodiversity, and environmental trends.

The original report was collated in autumn 2023, and this updated State of Nature report builds on that work with the latest insights. Compiled by the National Landscape team with support from Natural England and other sources, it helps track changes over time and informs future conservation efforts.

What Does the Report Cover?

  • Landscape Character & Land Use – A detailed look at how our land is shaped, used, and managed.
  • Wildlife & Protected Sites – Insights into the condition of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and the species that depend on them.
  • People & Places – Updated demographic data to show how communities interact with the landscape.
  • Environmental Trends – Including the latest greenhouse gas and carbon flux data, as well as transport and traffic monitoring.

While the report is information-rich and designed for those looking for in-depth detail, it plays a crucial role in shaping conservation efforts and decision-making for the future of East Devon’s environment.
