East Devon Way
Your gateway to adventure in the heart of East Devon!

Welcome to the official website for the East Devon Way – your gateway to adventure in the heart of East Devon!

This walking route, first developed in the late 1990s, covers 40 miles of footpaths, leafy lanes, and bridleways, through the best of the region’s natural beauty.

You’ll encounter rivers, woodland, heathland, and valleys, each offering its own unique charm. Plus, there are circular routes available for those who prefer, or link routes that connect to the Southwest Coast Path and nearby villages.

Sometimes there’s a problem

We try to keep these routes as clear and as up to date as possible. If you find that somethings not right, or that a path is blocked let us know and we can update our information.

Remember to always wear appropriate gear, take some snacks and ensure you have plenty of fluids

  • Link Walks: Take you from nearby villages and towns to the EDW – these are waymarked with pink ‘East Devon Way Link’ discs.
  • Circular Walks: Use a small part of the EDW to form a circular walk into the surrounding countryside. These are not waymarked in situ.
