Seaton Wetlands is an award-winning local nature reserve that transforms the lower Axe Valley into a vibrant haven for wildlife and people alike.
Made up of four distinct sites—Seaton Marshes, Black Hole Marsh, Colyford Common, and Stafford Marsh—the reserve spans nearly 4km of level trails and scenic boardwalks.
Unlike many wilder reserves, Seaton is designed for everyone. It features over 4km of level, buggy, and wheelchair-friendly paths, and even offers an all-terrain “Tramper” mobility scooter for hire.

Birdwatcher’s Paradise
With five bird hides and a 360-degree viewing platform, you can spot everything from elegant Avocets and Kingfishers to hunting Ospreys and Barn Owls.
The Discovery Hut
Located at Stafford Marsh, this hub is the heart of the reserve. Here, you can learn about recent sightings, hire pond-dipping equipment, or enjoy a coffee while watching the “nest cams.”
Seaton Tramway
For a truly memorable visit, you can arrive via the Seaton Tramway, which has its own dedicated “Wetlands” halt, allowing you to travel through the marshes on a heritage tram.
